Version 1.8.1 upgrade error

I've just tried installing the latest version of CQRLog on my Linux Mint 14 (nadia) 32-bit PC using this DEB
cqrlog_1.8.1-1_i386.deb
The DEB Package Installer gave me the following error:
Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libpango-1.0-0 (>=1.14.0)
How do I install this dependancy ?

Version 1.8.1 upgrade error

Hello!
You can install the missing dependency like this:

Open the terminal window and type:

    sudo apt-get install libpango-1.0-0 <ENTER>

After entering your password the installation process will continue. After it's finished, try to install CQRLOG again.

I found this reference useful

I found this reference useful:
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=106332
It seems the dependancy install command should be as follows:
sudo apt-get install libpango1.0-0
I did this and got the following conformation:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
libpango1.0-0 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 21 not upgraded.

So I appear to have the latest version of libpango, but CQRLog still wont install ?

Hello!

Hello!
Although the package name is libpango-1.0-0, it's version actually needs to be greater or equal 1.14.0 (>=1.14.0). Please try to run the command:

aptitude show libpango-1.0-0

and see the actual version you have installed. If it's less than 1.14.0, like it was in y case, maybe the simplest way to solve the problem is to do a distribution upgrade. I'm running Linux Mint 17 Qiana, which is actually a spawn of Ubuntu 14.04. Beside that, there sure is the way to upgrade just the libpango-1.0-0 package, but you might need to do it by compiling from sources.

As far as I know, Petr OK2CQR wrote that he is developing CQRLOG on Ubuntu 14.04, so it's the ony distro on which the logger is fully tested and guaranteed to work as expected.

It's:

It's:
Version: 1.30.1-0ubuntu3
So unless I re-install theb latest version of Mint, its the end of the road for me?

Let Petr fix it

I am having a similar problem with Debian 7.6. Since Mint is based on both Ubuntu and Debian, I suspect it is from the same cause. Petr told me in a direct Email that as far as he knows, CQRLOG doesn't depent on libpango-1.0-1. Earlier versions of his non-ubuntu deb worked fine on Debian, so something probably happed to his 1.8.1 build environment.

When I try to install his amd64.deb, dpkg compains about libpango, but cqrlog works anyway. A hint that there is somthing wrong with the deb (at least for Debian-based systems) is that aptitude reports that the installed cqrlog is a "trusty" package.

If you can't wait for Petr to fix it, you can install the i386.tar.gz binaries, or comple the program yourself with the src.tar.gz source files.

Hi, thanks for the update.

Hi, thanks for the update. There's no rush, I can wait. My current version of CQRLog works just fine. If I can back up all my data and apps successfully I'll be installing Mint 17 which may resolve the problem anyway. Currently trying to decide if I should install the Debian Mint distro or not to avoid complete re installs to upgrade in future.

Also using LinuxMint 17 Cinnamon

No issues for me on 64 bit setup, the install went smooth and it has just worked fine. Only errors I have had were when lotw underwent some temporary changes which they resolved. Now very stable.
