TMySQL57Connection issue

Greetings.
For background, this new thread extends the May 30 2026 thread "CQRLOG failure, due to database connection?" where Saku was so helpful.

I am running Ubuntu 26.04, WSJT-X 3.0.0-rc-1, CQRLOG 2.5.2 (001), and TQSL V2.8.6 build [pkg-v2.8.6]. Two problems repeatedly occur and may be related.

Problem 1. If I open the Software Updater desktop app in Ubuntu, it ALWAYS fails after several seconds with this error: "Failed to download repository information. Check you internet connection." Two comments: the internet connection is fine every time, and this error has occurred with the current Ubuntu and all previous versions I have used as well. Perhaps it is a repository containing cqrlog or hamlib, etc., that is failing. How can I clean up this repository problem?

Problem 2. I get a TMySQL57 Connection error when executing the following steps:

A. I open cqrlog from the desktop via the desktop app menu.

B. Cqrlog opens briefly to the Database Connection window with these settings: localhost, port 3306, user cqrlog, password *****, Remember Me checked, Autoconnect checked, and Open recent log after program start checked. The Database Connection window shows two logs: "Log001" and "2026." The 2026 log is highlighted. (Note: currently Log001 is empty and "2026" is an incomplete restoration from a previous backup .adi file. I new to generate a completely restored file from LOTW.)

C. The NEW QSO window opens.

D. I select FILE --> OPEN OR CREATE A NEW LOG.

E. The Database Connection opens. The "2026" log is highlighted.

F. I click the NEW LOG button.

G. Log #3 options appear, and in the log name window I type LOTWRebuild . (I also tried "LOTW" in case there were too any characters in the rebuild name.)

H. I click the OK button and this error appears:
"TMySQL57Connection : Error executing query: Unknown table 'view_cqrlog_main_by_qsodate' in information schema."

Help, please.

Thanks,
Joe, N0NOW

TMySQL57Connection issue

HI Joe!

For your fist problem Google may be the best help. With quick peek I found this https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/continuing-software-updater-failed-to-dow...
It is worth of checking that your cdrom is not selected as update source (read the link message).

For the second problem:

Do not try to switch or create a new log via "NewQso/Open or create a new log". It has never worked propely (with Offical or Alpha/Improved Cqrlog).
For what it is useful is that if you have checked "open recent log after program start" you can do "NewQso/Open or create a new log" and remove the checking and then return to NewQSO.

Once you have done that close your Cqrlog and start it again.
Then you will enter to Database connection window and stay there.
Look that you see all your logs (it means you have connection to SQL server open).
Then press button "New Log" and give log name and if you want to copy configuration from existing log give it's number (saves lot of typing).
Once the log is created you can select and open it.

If you like you can again check "open recent log after program start" but always when you do any log operations please uncheck it from NewQSO, start Cqrlog again and do you changes at start from Database connection window.

Operations or log switching from "NewQso/Open or create a new log" may sometimes randomly work, but most of the time they do not. That is a known bug that is hard to fix (tried several times).

Recommended way to switch logs, or make log operations, is stop and start cqrlog again and do it in Database Connection window
(needs "open recent log after program start" to be unchecked)
