I'm not sure if this is a bug or not or if it's something I'm not doing correctly, but Mode is ticked in Visible columns in Preferences but not showing above new QSO window. All the other columns appear, but not the Mode one. I have tried reinstalling the program and DB without any luck.
Any ideas please?

I've never seen this before :). Maybe the config file will help. Open the CQRLOG and in the Database connection window, there is Utils button. Click on the button, choose Configuration -> Export. It will save the config file. Please send it to my email petr@ok2cqr.com. Maybe the column has width set to 0 or very small value.

Just a bit of feedback in case it helps someone else. I have managed to find my missing Mode column. It seems somehow the config file got corrupted, no idea why, luckily I had an old one that I saved from last year and loaded that on and it all started working again. So make sure you take a backup of it in case it gets you out of trouble in the future.

I have the same problem, but I don't have a copy of the original config file. What should I do?

I went digging around. In ~/.config/cqrlog/1cqrlog.cfg I see that there is a section:
[Columns]
and under it is:
Mode=1
I couldn't find any other config files with "Mode" in it.
What can I do to make the Mode display on the top of the "New QSO" window?

The column might be hidden, I have since done that myself if you drag the column too far to the left, it seems to hide the column and there seems no way to open the column again easily. It is a simple fix.
Export the config file. Open the CQRLOG you will see a Utils button. Click on the button, choose Configuration -> Export. Save the file to somewhere where you can find it.
Open the ini file with Gedit and scroll right to the bottom you should see this:

Set mode= , as you see mine is set to 52, then re-open CQRlog and re-import the edited file and the mode column should be there when you enter a call that you have previously worked.
I have tried this again just to confirm it works and it does.
It is worth putting that exported file somewhere so that you can re-import it again if disaster strikes, it saves entering all your information again.
