So you want to have your cqrlog database on your server, not on the working PC ?

If you are making server to clean hardware just choose your preferred linux distro and select MYSQL (+Apache +PhP if you want LAMP) when installing linux.

Make MYSQL database user with needed rights to build up a database.
Open firewall port 3306 to your local network (or internet, if you need remote. OpenVPN is how ever more recommended for that)
Those 2 operations can be done from console, but I prefer Webmin web console (install that, too) for doing that.

If you have MYSQL ready and installed but you do not remember MYSQL-admin password use Google with words "MYSQL admin password change". You fill find trick to fix that.
Google is also your friend when setting up MYSQL user.

When all ok start cqrlog and place your servers IP and port (3306) with MYSQL user and password to "open or create new log"-dialog and make a fresh new log.
You can afterwards transfer (adif backup/restore) your previous log from PC to server.

After your server's MYSQL is working you can consider if you still keep your log at PC's MYSQL and do just database syncronization between PC and server. You can make it work on both directions.
It is handy way of backup database on fly. This requires PC's cqrlog database being at mysql "open side" (install same way as for server), not in safe mode as it is in standard cqrlog install.

When having database on server with apache and php and internet access (from internet to server) you can also install cqrweblog
for remote logging via browser (phone, tablet or pc) http://www.dl8bh.de/cqrweblog/
And if you have database sync active your log is up to date also at your hamshack pc when you open it after remote operation.
