Using Xubuntu 16.04.1. Same problem here - no Icon.
Running Mint 18.1 Mate same here...
Quick Fix for Linux Mint:
If you put the Starter out of the Menu onto the Desktop or in the Window Title Bar, you can edit the Starter and ad the known Icon.
Edit Starter (Right Mouseclick - Edit)
A Window named Launcher Properties will Pop up
Now click on the empty Icon
Now you can choose a Icon from /usr/share/icons/cqrlog

What do you mean by "put the Starter out of the Menu onto the Desktop" ??
I have CQRlog app icon on the taskbar/panel, and I've managed to change the icon to some other ones, but in "menu" the app icon is w/o the icon and cannot change that.

I guess the best is to wait for a proper update :-)
You can place the Starter also on the Desktop. Editing is the same to get an Icon. But that didn't change the "no Icon" in the menu. At the moment, i don't know how to change that.
Ah OK, yes, on desktop can be changed from a "white one" to other, but I have my desktop clear of icons :)
When multitasking also there are no icons, just 4 or more empty spaces :)
Well, we just have to wait for a fix.
Thnx.

Looks like this... NOT pretty and not right icon.
Do some one know how to fix it to the right icon?

I wait for an official update instead of fix now to avoid further problems.
The missing icon is caused by the old icon file (/usr/share/icons/cqrlog.png) being replaced by a directory structure containing several icons of different sizes. (/usr/share/icons/cqrlog/...)
This was done for Gnome desktops but it seems it breaks all other desktop systems!
You should be able to fix it by copying the 128x128 version of the icon as follows:
cp /usr/share/icons/cqrlog/128x128/cqrlog.png /usr/share/icons/cqrlog.png
You will need to use sudo or be the root user.
