Contest logger

Hi all,
Many CQRLOG users thinking about the contest logger from CQRLOG.
IMHO the best native contest logger for linux is console ncurses based TLF (https://github.com/Tlf/tlf). TLF is still alive and developed, the new version is announced for next week. TLF is also integrated to fldigi, xplanet, dx cluster and so on.
Maybe it would be worth to consider any kind of integration cqrlog with tlf? I am not a coder, but this may be easier to do than coding the new contest logger.
Just casual proposal...

Contest logger

Hi Slav!

Cqrlog has now "contest notepad" that can keep serial numbering and duplicate checking for "sunday contester".

Serious contesters should use N1MM via wine, tlf, or something else that is originally written for contest working.
Adding integration to cqrlog makes it more complicated, integrations to other program that is written using other programming language makes it even more complicated.

My opinion is that making new contest program from scratch has less work to do than making "true" contest part to cqrlog. Either with integrating to other program or stand alone.

But that is just my opinion...

Hi Saku,
Tnx for your answer.
As you are better programmer than me without any doubt ;) I have to agreed with you.
BTW N1MM is a really great contest logger, but unfortunately it never wants to work under Wine on my Ubuntu 18.04 :(

Hi !

I copy David's new message from "linuxham" in case of interest and not being a member of linuxham:
Here’s a screenshot of all the N1MM+ windows (except for the few noted at the bottom) running on Ubuntu 19.10:

https://photos.app.goo.gl/dtCMfrCUmKggiogx9

Install Wine 4.19 (https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu).

Use “winecfg” to set your version of Windows to Windows 7.
Using “winetricks” (I installed from the Ubuntu Software app), install the following:

Under “Select the default wineprefix->Install a Windows DLL or component”, install:
dotnet40
dotnet 45
dotnet46
dotnet461
dotnet462
dotnet472
gdiplus

Under “Select the default wineprefix->Install a font”, install (NOTE: I’m sure you don’t need all these fonts, but you do need some of them and I’m not able to figure out the minimum set right now):
andale
arial
calibri
cambria
candra
comicsans
consolas
constantia
corbel
corefonts
courier
droid
georgia
impact
liberation
lucida
meiryo
opensymbol
tahoma
times
trebuchet
uff
unifont
verdana
webdings
Wenquanyi

Download and install N1MM+.

NOTES:
The topbar menus are a little funky. You can’t pick sub-menus with your mouse. Instead just click on the topbar main menu item and then use the mouse keys to navigate and then “Enter” to select the menu item.

I haven’t got the following windows working yet:
CW Reader
Digital Interface
Spectrum Display

Hope that helps!

Hi Slav!

If I remember right Petr said once that he uses N1MM. I understood/remember that happens with wine.
I have never tested that by myself.
There was just a thread about this in "linuxham" list.

David N9KT commented that he uses it with wine. I'll copy his last message here. It is not complete instructíon, but may give a clue to someone.
-------------
I'm away from my notes, but I'd be happy to send them out later. I remember a key thing was to choose the Win 8.1 emulation in wine. There were then two DLLs I had to install. I've run both CW and SSB contests with it. Digital contests don't work. There is a missing DLL, but I can't figure out which one it is.

So just testing... and more testing...

Contest logger

Hi Saku,
After gathering all info from several sources (thanks for your help) I got it working in any way.
However, I am not too serious contester and my contesting is more for fun, but there are still too much of minor problems that prevent me from using n1mm under Linux.
Have to wait for a better linux contest logger or ... to apologize to the latter operating system during contests :)
Thanks.

Re: Contest logger

Hi Slav,

try TR4W
https://tr4w.net/

I am using this program under Linux for years with great success. ~40 different contests per year...

Re: Contest logger

Hi Martin,

I knew abt TR4W but never tried to use. Installed today under wine without any troubles and it works! Looks fine, a lot things to learn abt so I will try it later. I am ready for OK/OM DX contest with tlf so far.
Thanks a lot.
