RBN showing red STOP sign

Hi cqrlog,

first: thanks for this great software!

Now I'll try to explain the problem:
- starting cqrlog
- dxcluster ist open
- propagation window open
- CW type open
- RBN Monitor open
=> then I click in the empty RBN Monitor window - try to catch "connect" - missed this and got a red STOP sign.
=> I can close the RBN Monitor but it is unuseable then until restart of cqrlog.

Attached you can see the trace.

###

RBN showing red STOP sign

HI Martin!

When you click on bandmap or rbn monitor so that window comes active the indicator "stop" comes visible.
It tells you that so long as the window (bandmap or rbn monitor) is active you can not receive any new spots there.
The action has been there in earlier versions, but now it also has reminder "stop" so that you do not need to wonder why new spots do not appear any more.

As soon as you point any other window (New QSO, QSO list, TRXControl ... etc) so that that window comes active the "stop" disappears and new spots are again added to bandmap or rbn monitor.

"Stop" disappears also if you point a spot with mouse and double click with left mouse button so that call moves as new callsign to NewQSO.

Hi Saku,

Hi Saku,

thanks for the explanation of the STOP sign.
I had never seen this before.

In my case cqrlog stops working - attached the last dialogbox (Abort / OK).
I can reproduce this by clicking three times in the RBN Monitor directly after starting cqrlog.

Debug output:

Cqrlog Ver:2.4.0 (116) Date:2020-04-10
**** DEBUG LEVEL 1 ****

And here "the final mouse clicks":
TApplication.HandleException "Freq" is an invalid float

Stop sign

Hi Martin.

Ok. Alpha 116 is the first binary where you can see the "stop". But the action that spot flow stops has been there before (without " stop" indicator).

You have cutted debug at start so that I can not see are you runninng on 64 or 386 pc.

I try again to reproduce the bug. It did not happen at first time (64bit). How ever I now have a glue what could cause that. I will check that.

Hi Saku,

Hi Saku,

Stop sign

Hi Martin!

Yes, I got it now. Actually double click is enough on empty RBN.
Just wondering what makes you double click it when there are no spots ?

But that is a bug. And it happens because gird has just headers, but no spots and then double click points to header line. The "Freq" can not be converted to numerical value for setting up the Frequency in New QSO and drive rig's cat.

I will fix this. Thanks for reporting!

RBN issues

Hi Saku,

to explain the double click:
I tried to click the "connect" button but missed it. That's all :-)
This happened due to the fact RBN is not connected at startup of cqrlog, but autoconnect is checked in the config!
Also a small bug :-)

Another finding in RBN:
The buttons of the RBN Monitor disappeared! This happened just some minutes ago and is reproceable.
Double-Click a station in RBN, QRG is changed, but buttons are lost! I can close the RBN window, reopen it. Still lost. Restart of cqrlog: all okay.

Sorry to report another bug in this thread.

RBN issues

Hi Martin!

OK.
Actually there was similar issue with band map and dxcluster windows. If they are open, but empty, program will crash on double click.

These are now fixed in alpha test 117.

I tested with gtk2 and qt5 versions (117) but I can not get buttons disappear. Could it be a x-window manager issue? I use LXDE.

Instead I found out that even when buttons are there pressing many times connect and disconnect remains state connected on.
And in any case the status line (bottom) always says RBN connected even when disconnected.

Bug reports are welcome.
Normal user, who has no GitHub account can not report issues there. So this is good place then.

I will still try to make buttons disappear (i try 386 version next in my lubuntu 18). But it might be hard to fix if I can not make it happen here.

RBN "click" issue fixed

Hello Saku,

I tried version 117 - it is fixed now! Many thanks for your quick help.

To get the "buttons disappear" I did some tests. "STOP" let these buttons disappear. Might be an refresh problem.
Your approach to check the window manager is interesting. I'll check with LXDE distribution.

In my setup, RBN is not connecting at startup of cqrlog. I have to click "connect" every time cqrlog starts. Connection is stable then.
DXCluster ist working perfect (connect after program startup) - just to explain this issue further.

RBN issues

Hi Martin!

As you can compile from source, please try now my loc_testing. Source has nr 118, but binaries are still 117.

I fixed the statusbar "Connected to RBN/Disconnected" issue and added toolbar repaint to enter and exit from RBN window. I can not see toolbuttons disappear, but I hope this could resolve your issue.

Please report after testing.

RBN issues

Hello Saku,

Version 118 ist running. No Auto-Connect to RBN at startup. Manual connect is okay.

Sorry to say: "buttons disappear" is still there.
The buttons disappear when I click elsewhere in RBN Monitor.
Just to explain: sometimes STOP is still there, sometimes "no buttons at all".
Not shure, but refresh/window manager issue might be a good thing to check.

I try to setup a VM to check this with LXDE.

RBN issues

Hi Saku,

LXDE is running now - sad to say: same issue!

What I did:
- Installed Mint 19 64Bit with LXDE
- took all files from .config/cqrlog

martin@martin-vbox:~$ cat /etc/issue
Linux Mint 19 Tara \n \l

martin@martin-vbox:~$ uname -a
Linux martin-vbox 5.3.0-46-generic #38~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 31 04:17:56 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
martin@martin-vbox:~$ ps -ef| grep -i lxde
martin 2927 2911 0 17:32 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/lxsession -s LXDE -e LXDE
martin 3028 2927 0 17:32 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/ssh-agent /usr/bin/im-launch /usr/bin/startlxde
martin 3064 2927 0 17:32 ? 00:00:01 openbox --config-file /home/martin/.config/openbox/lxde-rc.xml
martin 3068 2927 0 17:32 ? 00:00:02 lxpanel --profile LXDE
martin 3069 2927 0 17:32 ? 00:00:02 pcmanfm --desktop --profile LXDE
martin 29577 29544 0 18:20 pts/3 00:00:00 grep --color=auto -i lxde

So it might be another thing we have missed?

Hi Martin!

Nice to hear that!
I will pull request this latest fix and also compile it to alpha test binaries tomorrow.

Until that 118 exist only as alpha test source code.
