What are you trying to do?

What are you trying to do? update or install? with ubuntu, open software center, and search for Gdebi Package installer, then come here and go to the menu on the left, into the downloads file, get the proper version you need, then download it, right click and install with Gdebi installer, enjoy...

trying to do

Thanks Tom,
The instructions you gave must have been what or similar to what I did by accident as I started on version .9 of cqrlog. After getting the error I showed above I did download 1.6.0 and somehow got it to install over .9- getting the program updated. But I still have a problem with the repository. If I understand how this update business works (I'm real new to ubuntu), The repository needs to be in my approved list for updates to magically happen. Every time I try to run the commands :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ok2cqr/ppa
sudo apt-get update

I get those errors at the end so ok2cqr is not in my list of approved repositories so no updates will happen?? Or do I not have a clue? hihi

fixed?

I'm not sure, but I may have fixed it by redoing with a cut/paste reinstall of the first few steps, ignoring the error and try to install agan. It said I already had latest and new updates would notify me. Never saw that before! Being encouraged I searched/found hamlib and compiled, a first for me. Guess I'm golden!

As long as you did the

As long as you did the
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ok2cqr/ppa
then when Petr does an update, should automatically update the program when the system does an update.
Always download the program from this site first. anyway glad you got it going.
