I just installed cqrlog and am trying to install from terminal sudo apt-get install libmysqlclient-dev. This has been mentioned before in the forum as being necessary to get cqrlog to run.
When I enter the command, terminal then asks for my password but it will not allow me to type it in.
Am using a fresh installation of Ubuntu 16.04. Any ideas why I cannot type my password?

LInux question for mysql installation
Hi
If you were able to write the command itself your keyboard is working.
There is no echo after " :"
So just keep typing as blind. Finally press enter. Should work if you just type right word(s), caps and all that you have in your password.

Saku, Thanks for that - I got the password in ok and installed libmysqlclient-dev and cqrlog attempted to start but I got the errors:-
Error during connection to database: TMySQL56Connection can not work with the installed MySQL client version: Expected (5.6), got (5.7.21).
Also in terminal I get:-

So, I am not sure where to go from here. Any help or guidance appreciated.

Saku, I copied the error screen which may help. Screenshot copy attached.

What version of cqrlog did you install? It seems you are trying to use older version because it doesn't have support for higher MySQL version. You should use recent version from my PPA.

Petr,
Yes, I just had a eureka moment and checked the version 1.9.05 which as you say is out of date from Synaptic.
I have deleted it and will start again from the PPA.
I will keep going forward and am determined to get it to run.
Appreciate the help.

I followed the instruction for installation from PPA and now have a working version. I will spend some time getting to know CQRlog and setting it up.
Again thank you both for the help to a new Linux user.
