Hallo,
about two years ago I swapped to UCXLof because I love to take part in Contests every now and than. UCXLog has a module to assist the operator in contests. This tool is really a really good one. But I'm missing cqrlog because its clear, easy to use and the most important thing is, that cqrlog is a linux software. Having said that, I think it's a pity that one has to run Windows software under WINE to have a software that assists the radio operator in contests as good as in "day to day logging".
Is there any chance to bring cqrlog's contest module on a higher, more efficient and more user assisting level? In that case I'd like to come back to cqrlog, even if it takes a while to integrate the functions mentioned above.
If more input for "missing functions" is needed, I'm willing to assist as much as my abilities allow.

Hi Norbert!
Have you tested my Alpha 2.6.0(114)?
I am not contester but like to take part to some contests with some qsos. Mostly using cw and some times mgm modes.
From that point of view I have developed the contest part of Cqrlog and like that it now fulfill "Sunday contester 's" needs better.

It has now s&p and calling modes that automates sending some memories, better duplicate chek, a general status display with qso, country and message counters. For MWC and NAC it has score counting modules initiated by those strings found from contest name. Cabrillo and Edi exports for prepare logs for sending.

While making those updates I found out how difficult it is to create support for different contests. Rules vary so much that it is very hard to find out how to create a common plug module to switch score counting by contest. Not to mention that it would be even user defineable.

If you are serious contester you still need your N1MM. Cqrlog is not in same category with programs made just for contesting, and I think it never will be.

Hello Saku,

thank you for your answer. No, I did not test Alpha 2.6.0. I guess that this is the Version number of cqrlog. I Like taking part in some Contests on HF and VHF. I know N1MM but it is not usable on my OpenSuse OS because it is extremely unstable. But having said that, I found out that UCXLog meets my requirements best and it runs under Wine very reliable. But as mentioned in my request, I'm missing cqrlog. All I want is to have a logsoft that assists in "Day to Day" logging and in Contest logging. That makes handling easier. One of the main Problems is, that it is not that easy to remember how a software works if you use it only every now and than.

As far as I understood your message, the Alpha 2.6.0 has a more improved contest module. I'll give it a trial. I understand that it is an enormous effort to hold all the contest data up to date. I realized that other contest logsofts have updates whenever you start the software. I observed that the main changes in contest rules is, that classes change or the way of building sums for results. But most things are very stabil. That is the data to send, numbering and frequencies.

One of the main reasons that I want to swap back to cqrlog is, that the programmer of UCXLog is not willing to think about changes/improvements. I made a proposal to make UCXLog a bit more clean to give it a better overview. His answer was, that he will take changes in account, when they are useful for him. Otherwise he is not interested. But to configure UCXLog is a nightmare!!!

I'll download Alpha 2.6.0 now an report to you

Thank you very much up to now.

Hi Saku,

I updated my cqrlog version to the latest 2.5.2. I could not find something like Alpha 2.6.0. Where can I find that? I watched your video concerning updates. There was an "Alpha update" mentioned, but I couldn't find the path displayed in that video.
BTW: While setting up the new version I found some strange things:
There is no possibility to change from radio1 to radio2 inside the logging mask. The only possibility is to use the "Radio Control Window".
Inside the logging mask the QRG of the actual radio choosen by "Radio Control" is displayed. The field where the display is shown is to small to show the whole QRG. In CW-Mode the QRG from 10MHz and higher has 8 numbers (e.g. 14.035.005) The last number is not in the display and the 7th is not shown completely. I tried to enlarge the "QSO Window" without success.
In the "Preference" tool at "Visible Columns" I found a "DOK" column. If it is checked or not makes no visible difference.
