I cannot get my Elecraft K4 or K3 to connect to CQRlog since I did a fesh install of Mint 21.2 yesterday. Everything worked fine on 21.1. I am using a fresh install (of course) CQRlog V2.5.2. I am using an FTDI USB adapter with the K3 and the K4 a USB cable. My hamlib is v4.3.1-1build 2. I am in dialout and when I ran dmesg | grep FTDI it showed the converter connected and attached to ttyUSBx. My K4 does connect fine with CQRlog using IP address as device. I have used sudo modprobe to make sure the FTDI diver is attached properly. Rigctl is correct. When I switch to the K3 all that shows in frequency is a 0 and I can't enter frequency manually.
I have the exact same issue with WSJTx. I am dual booted with Windows 10 and the rigs connect just fine there with WSJTx and a couple of other programs.
Clearly there is an issue with my Mint installation and USB but damned if I can figure it out!

I solved the connection problem, turns out I was not in dialout like I thought I was. Once I changed that the connections work fine. DUH.
I still have the issue of not being able to manually enter frequency even when I have hamlib dummy selected. I have several older rigs I use quite a bit that have no CAT so I need to enter frequency manually which I was able to do in the past. Any help greatly appreciated!

HI Bill !
Downloaded 2.5.2 from web and it seems to have "Preferences/TRXControl/Riun rigctld after program starts" enabled, not grayed.
How ever it does not start rigctld even when checked. That is the "very original" behavior.
Then it should accept frequency and mode entry at NewQSO. If you how ever get prompt about wrong frequency check Preference/modes/frequencies that you have band limits set by Region2. As default they are Region1 settings.
I did not remember how basic the 2.5.2 really is. You can not enter frequency from TRXControl window, or make Dummy rig start.

HI Bill !
I am not sure if 2.5.2 is version that forces Dummy rig to load. ("Preferences/TRXControl/riun rigctld after program starts" is grayed and checked)
That is so old that I have forgotten what were the properties of it.
To test it open TRXControl window and click the frequency display there. If it changes it's view press CTrl+A and then type your frequency in and press enter.
You can also select mode by mode buttons there. That way you can put Dummy rig to frequency and mode you are using with your non-CAT rig.
When at top of NewQSO/Mode the "Auto" is checked you get right frequency and mode to log, and it is easy to change that via TRXControl.
With the very latest Alpha 2.6.0(117) the checkbox "Preferences/TRXControl/riun rigctld after program starts" is not grayed and you can again prevent Dummy rig to start, if you want so, and then use manual entry of freq+mode in NewQSO.

Hi Saku,
I installed 2.5.2 because it was in the Mint 21.2 repository. I'll try installing 2.6.0(117) and see how it works.
I installed 2.6.0(001)GTK with your script and that solved the problem!
