Hamlib & TS-590S

I just tried to connect a TS-590S with CQRLOG and found out that it only works with Hamlib model No. 216 (TS-570), but not model No. 231 (TS-590) for an unknown reason. But basic functions are working, so that's not a real problem for me. Has anybody successfully used model No. 231 yet?

And just for information for other TS-590 users who are using model No. 216:

In the CQRLOG preferences on the 'Modes' tab the bandwidth for CW should be set to the wanted value, e.g. 500 for 500 Hz bandwidth. For SSB I noticed, that the given value is somehow converted and only the SSB Low Cut Frequency is set. But the value 300 will not lead to a low cut frequency of 300 Hz. I tried several values and found out that a value of 225 leads to a low cut frequency of 300 Hz. A value of 0 leads to 0 Hz and a value of 300 leads to 500 Hz. The high cut frequency is not changed.

Re: Hamlib & TS-590S

Ulf, the rig model for the TS-590S should be 231. As that doesn't seem to work for you, can you update to Hamlib 1.2.15? It should be in the Ubuntu Hams PPA by now.

If you still have problems, I'd like to work with you to fix the problems.

Hi Nate,

sri for delay. I'll check my Hamlib version later, try again and report if it works.

Tnx, 73!

Re: Hamlib & TS-590S

Hi agn,

everything works fine now. Hamlib is the latest version. I now use the original USB port on the TS-590. I used to use an external CAT device with integrated USB serial converter, soundcard, PTT, CW etc. I don't know why it works with the TS-570 settings and not with the TS-590 settings, but it seems to be a device related problem. Anyway, tnx for your offer of help!

I'm trying to get my TS-590 connected to rigcontrol in CQRlog, but no luck yet. I've compiled virtual com port driver from this site: http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/pages/usbtouartbridgevcpdrivers.aspx . Did all the steps in the .txt. I use in CQRlog Rig ID 231 and all settings as discribed here: http://hamlib.sourceforge.net/sup-info/support/model231.txt and device: /dev/ttyUSB0. But no connection yet. Any tips/hints how to figure out if there is a working connection at all?

[UPDATE] ooops, noob mistake! When I use rigctl from commandline nothing happens. Then I tried rigctl as root, bingo! So it had to be something with rights. Googling around gave me:

Used this solutions and my TS-590S rig control is playing nice!

Now let's make some contacts and get to know CQRlog...
