CQ monitor - nothing displayed

Hi Saku,

No problems with CQRLOG for years... but i had to do a fresh install of MINT 22 on my NUCi3.
I installed CQRLOG and mariaDB. And it seemed fine. I left the default values for UDP.
But nothing shows up in the CQ-monitor panel.
Previously I used JTDX, but am now using wsjtx 2.7.0.
Have I forgotten some important setting? Thanks for your help.

Hi Robin!

Here are my settings.
The IP address is a multicast UDP one (you can share WSJTX UDP trasmission to several programs with multicast support).
When multicast IP is selected you get two more settnigs in WSJTX:
"Output interface" that may have just one selection: your PC nework card. Several if there are more cards than one.
"TTL" is how far the UDP frames will travel via routers and swithes.

The 127.0.0.1 IP address can be used instead if there is no need to use WSJTX's UDP frames in other programs than Cqrlog.

If CQ monitor has checkbox "DX" see also that. When checked it shows only DX stations (for you).
Checkbox "nTxt" disables printing and returns color codes to WSJTX, but it has a warning text you should notice.

Finally it could be firewall settings, but I do not think so. Usually "inside PC" communication is not firewalled.

Thanks for your rapid answer Saku. This is a totally fresh install on a clean new OS (Mint 22).

I changed wsjtx (I am using 2.7.0, not improved) to multicast 239.255.0.1

However I cannot set cqrlog to match that. All my entries for inputs from wsjtx are not saved.
The path to wsjtx remains blanked out and the address is always at 127.0.0.1.

The CQ monitor panel remains empty, although many CQ calls in the wsjtx activity decodes.
I have not tried a QSO or to log anything yet.

Just a further note (or maybe clue).
When UDP is set 127.0.0.1 in both wsjtx and cqrlog , data is transferred across to New QSO screen.
I cannot set UDP to multicast in both. Wsjtx accepts 239.255.0.1 . CQRLOG will not accept any change.

With UDP at 127.0.0.1, the CQ Monitor window selector boxes on the top have their upper half truncated.
With UDP 239.255.1.0 at WSJTX, (CQRLOG 127.0.0.1) the CQ monitor panel is correct, but still empty.

CQRLOG was loaded (version 2.5.2.) using apt install
The mariaDB-client and mariaDB-server were loaded after, also using apt install.

This all worked brilliantly for years with MINT 20. It looks like the only change is to MINT 22.

Hi!
You must use same IP address at both ends.
If multicast IP 239.255.1.0 does not work it might be that Cqrlog 2.5.2 version did not have multicast ready. It is very old version.
Then you must use 127.0.0.1 and you can not share WSJTX UDP to other programs.

How ever you could try CqrlogAlpha. It updates with script over the 2.5.2 https://github.com/OH1KH/CqrlogAlpha/tree/main/compiled
It has lot of fixes and new features and you can use also QT5 or QT6 versions with libqt5pas or libqt6pas library package installed.
That may affect the screen layouts.

Hej SAku,

That worked with your super CqrlogAlpha!! No problem following the installation process. The CQ monitor panel is now populated and looking good.
I've left UDP on 127.0.0.1 until I've explored the rest. Also now re-creating my custom event sounds that were on the previous CQRLOG.
As always, thanks for your invaluable help.
