Hi,
after a few tries at last I get my TS450S running with TRX control, but if I try to change the band by click the band buttons in TRX control window it takes about 5 to 10 seconds (and sometimes nothing happens) till the transceiver changes the band.
Changes on the transceiver are updated in CQRLOG as fast as expected.
Any hints?
Another problem (or not?), when I start CQRLOG at command line I get this running output:
sending fmv ...
Command ' ' not found!
pooool

Whats the problem?
Oh, by the way, I worked with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

Hi Steve,
I had the same problem with my TS-850. Also running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. What I did was I changed the Rig-ID to 207. Left the rest of the settings at default. This really helped. I rarely see a slow change of freqency anymore.
Good luck and 73,

Hi Tjalling,
thanks for the response. What I didn't mention was control my TS450 by the rigctl terminal works fine. However, I did as you described and changed the ID to 207 and it works nice. Thanks agai for the hint!

Hi again, Tjalling,
I was to heady. It worked for the first time, but now I've the same behavior, also a big delay if I click on DX cluster messages. It takes more than 5s till the transceiver reacts :-(.
Maybe, Petr has an idea...
best regards and 73 de Steve
Steve,
I have been doing some testing just now. I put DTR at OFF and RTS at UNSET.
I made over a 100 changes, from the TRX Control as well as from the cluster and all responded within half a second.
Also make sure you have the latest version of HAMLIB. Check with the update manager if you have doubts.
The last time it was updated, a few weeks ago if I'm correct, this contributed to a more solid control as well.
Good luck and 73

Hi Tjallin,
it seems the versin of HAMLIB was a good hint. I worked with 1.2.10 before and updated to 1.2.15 a few minutes ago. Seems to work better now, even with rig ID 203 (TS450). I played around for 5-6 minutes and had delays not longer than a half second in the worst case. If this keeps stable, I will happy with that.

That is good news. I experienced just about the same thing after upgrading HAMLIB to that same version.
Glad that I could be of (a little) help. Hope it keeps working as expected.

Hi again Steve,
Too bad it did not work for you as it does for me. I must say that in about 5% of the cases I still have a longer response time. One more thing you could try and may be of influence. Set the poll rate at least at 500. It may be of help to try 600 or even 700.

Hi again,
After doing some testing I found out that it works fine normally. But after using the VFO on the tranceiver the response becomes sluggish. For some time now I have been using a poll rate of 2000 and this basically solved the problem. Worst case is about two seconds delay now but much faster most of the time.
