problems with rig control

I just upgraded from Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 and with the upgrade from cqrlog 1.3.1 to 1.5.2.  Rig control was working fine in the old installation.  I've set all my TRX parameters to default, and when I run cqrlog from a terminal I get the following:
Settings:
-----------------------------------------------------
RigCtldPath:/usr/bin/rigctld
RigCtldArgs:-m 221 -r /dev/ttyS0 -t 4532
RunRigCtld: TRUE
RigDevice:  /dev/ttyS0
RigCtldPort:4532
RigCtldHost:localhost
RigPoll:    500
RigSendCWR: FALSE
RigId:      221

Starting RigCtld ...
/usr/bin/rigctld -m 221 -r /dev/ttyS0 -t 4532
rigctld started!
Result0:N
Result1:Y
Result2:Y
Connected to localhost:4532

When rigctrld initializes, it cycles through the filters on my Elecraft K2, just as it did in the old setup.  But in the new setup, the frequency in CQRLOG still reads 0.00000, so CQRLOG is not receiving the frequency from the rig properly, although it appears to be communicating with the rig (otherwise why would it cycle through the filter settings?).

I've downloaded grig and, as an experiment, started rigcntrd using the same command as shown above in a terminal, then started grig using the command:  grig -r localhost -m2  When I do this, grig correctly reads and writes the radio's frequency (although there is other functionality missing, such as mode changes not working).  I believe that by doing this, it points to something the matter with my configuration in CQRLOG itself.  But as shown above, rigctrld does not complain at all when started as part of CQRLOG.  At this point I have no ideas on how to proceed.  If anyone can make some suggestions on what to do I'd appreciate it.  Thanks.  AE3E

You may have to add yourself

You may have to add yourself to the dial out group
try this terminal"
gksudo gedit /etc/group
look for:
dialout:x:20:
put in you computer name, mine is k8wdx so mine would look like this
dialout:x:20:k8wdx
I did the same for tty:x:5:
then save, you will then need to log out and back in see if that helps  Tom K8WDX

SOLVED...I don't know how this happened, but letting it sit overnight and a reboot in the morning somehow did the trick.

NEW LINUX/CQRLOG USER - IN OVER HEAD

HI FOLKS
IN THE PAST WEEK I GOT UNBUTU 12.10 WORKING AND THINK I INSTALLED CQRLOG PROPERLY.  IT WORKS BUT THE RIG CONTROL HAS NEVER WORKED.  THE HAMLIB THING IS INSTALLED AND THE RIG IS A TEN-TEC OMNI 7 MODEL 588.  I SAW A LIST THAT INDICATED THIS RIG ID IS 1611 AND HAVE TRIED THAT WITH NO LUCK.  ANY IDEAS, PLEASE HELP.
ALSO THE TELNET SCREEN AND BANDMAP WERE WORKING FINE.  IT WAS RUNNING FINE AND A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO THE BANDMAP WENT BLANK.  SEVERAL SHUTDOWNS AND REBOOTS HAVE NOT HELPED THIS ISSUE EITHER.
IF ANYONE CAN HELP WITH EITHER OF THESE ISSUES, PLEASE ADVISE.
