CQRlog won't run after upgrade from Ubuntu 8.10 (32-bit) to 9.04 (32-bit)

I'm getting:
"can't load library: /home/pif/cqrlog/lib/libfbembed.so.2.1.1"
The file is present and worked before the upgrade...

What do I do now?

Hi Peter,

please check if libstdc++5 is installed.

Re: CQRlog won't run after upgrade from Ubuntu ... solved

You're were right Petr, apparently the upgrade replaced the version 5 library with version 6. I reinstalled version 5 with Synaptic, leaving version 6 in place, and now everything works -- tnx once again Petr.

Re: CQRlog won't run correctly after upgrade from Ubuntu 8.10

Hi,

Haven't really tried to use CQRlog in anger on the upgraded machine until last night when i wanteeed to demonstrate to a friend. Now i noticed that characters typed in the "New QSO" window shows twice -- even when "Auto repeat" has been turned off!
Keyboard works correctly when running on 8.10 on my production machine, which has not yet been upgraded.

Re: CQRlog won't run correctly after upgrade from Ubuntu 8.10

I just did a fresh install og 9.04 (on another machine) and a fresh install of CQRlog 0.7.0 on top of that, after having manually installed libstdc++5, it runs as expected, wiiithout the doble chars, hmmmmmm.
I guess I'll try reinstalling CQRlog on the upgraded machine next......

I have seen too many people

I have seen too many people run into problems when trying to upgrade from one version to the next. I always recommend clean installs, everything always seems to work better.

I have seen too many people [was CQRlog problem after Ubuntu upg

Clean installs in lieu of upgrades can be a real hassle, it takes an awful time to get everything installed and correctly configured - plus you always seem to loose the odd bits and pieces in the process.

Anyway, I've just tried to redo the CQRlog install, and the problem persists - what's so different in CQRlog's way of obtaining keyboard input? All the other apps works normally....

Re: I have seen too many people

Hi Peter,

I have no idea what is happening.

If you do right click on any edit Call edit field, choose Imputh method and you can try to choose Simple or any other. This is happening time to time and I still didn't find out where is the problem.

Please let me know if it helps.

Re: I have seen too many people

Hi Petr (really the same name as mine, isn't it?)

Changing the input method certainly does work, but only until next invocation of the program..
Is there any way of making the change permanent?

I have noticed that on my 8.10-based system the default is "System", whereas on the upgraded system (8.10 -> 9.04) it's "SCIM Bridge Input Method" and on the freshly installed 9.10 it's given as "System(Simple)"

Vereee confusing...

Re: I have seen too many people - Solved (Sort of)

I think I have it figured out now: This happens when you have selected "Support for entering complex characters" in "Language Support", if you deselect this option input fields in CQRlog behaves correctly.

This does NOT explain why they behave this way in CQRlog and not in other applications!

Re: I have seen too many people - Solved (Sort of)

Hi Peter,

yes, you are right, my name is the same but in Czech language, there isn't the second e :-).

Thank you very much for solution. I don't know what is this happening only in CQRLOG app. I'll try to ask on IRC and figure out how to fix it. Thank you.

Hello. For everyone who did

Hello.
For everyone who did upgrade to Ubuntu 9.10.
1. System > Administration > Language support - Keyboard input method system: "none"
2. Reboot or logout and login again.
3.Now you can check "Input Methods" in New QSO window - "System (Simple)"

Regards.

Double characters

I have tried all the method thus far given and nothing is working for me.  I must wait for a new version CQRLOG or Ubuntu.
I hope to use CQRLOG in the future.

Try to uninstall bug-buddy

Try to uninstall bug-buddy and libstdc and reinstall them again.
