Selecting QRZ callbook not "sticking"

I want to use qrz.com for my callbook support. I have the XML subscription. But....

When I select it in the Preferences and close it reverts back to HamQTH.com.

Password and user id are correct.

Any ideas?

qrz.com

HI!

After you have changed to qrz.com close cqrlog.
Then open it again
When it is open again open console, or your favorite file browser, and navigate to ~/,config/cqrlog folder.
You should find there a file named Xcqrlog.cfg where X is the log number currently open.
You can also look file date and time to find right file. Cqrlog creates that file when it opens.

Open that file with text editor.
Seek word Callbook

Should look like:

[CallBook]
QRZ=1
HamQTH=0
CBUser=your_callsign
CBPass=your_password

From that place you can see if you change went through.

Note that if you change a setting it may not show up right away here as linux as its own write buffering that may keep changes in memory for a while.
Best way to be sure is to close cqrlog and open it again and then look the file.

At close cqrlog writes all the information to database for store and on open it reads data from database and writes it to this file.

So did you change went through?
If so there must be other error somewhere and we the have to look it again.

Selecting QRZ.com entries in 1cgrlog.cfg

Good Morning.

I followed the procedure you outlined above. Made the changes, pressed OK, closed CQRLOG, reopened it, and checked 1cgrlog.cfg.

The changes did not make it.

The only entry under [Callbook] is:

[Callbook]
HamQTH=0

I have attached the 1cgrlog file for your reference. It was copied and the file suffix changed to .txt to satisfy the board.

Many thanks for the reply and the help. I don't like being the bearer of bad news.

Selecting QRZ.com entries in 1cgrlog.cfg

HI!

Looks strange.

I tested it here and every change was recorded. I even did not close cqrlog, just waited a bit after change and closing preferences and then opened config file with text editor.
[Callbook] has 4 lines and they do change.

Do you have "enable auto search...." checked at New Qso tab?

Could you try to create a new log and there do this setup again with callsign and password and see that you get 4 lines under [Callbook] ?

Enable Auto Search and New Log.

Good Evening,

The "Enable Auto Search" is turned on.

As soon as I have time tonight I will create a new log and check the results.

Problem Looks Like It Is Resolved

I created a new logbook as recommended. Configured it and selected qrz as the callbook.

It "stuck" this time....

2crqlog.cfg info....

[CallBook]
QRZ=1
HamQTH=0
CBUser=wn3lif
CBPass=********

Now I suppose I can export the old logs and just import them into the new one. I'll try that and see how it goes.

Thank you for the help....

Problem Looks Like It Is Resolved

Hi ! Nice to hear.

There was something wrong with log 001.
Yes. You can make full (select all) adif export from 001 and then import to 002.

That should make it similar as old one.
You could also export 001 log settings from Database selecton dialog and import them to 001, but it might not be a good idea as there is something wrong with 001 settings.
Better to type in manually all tabs needed from preferences.

Export Import Successful

Just stopping by to close the loop.

The export from the old log and import to the new one was a complete success.

I manually keyed the preferences. That was not a problem and I found some things that, as a new & less than aware user, should have been set differently. It was a good exercise in rehab for the settings.

Thank you for your help, suggestions, and most of all CQRLOG. A contribution was made and it was long over due.
