New QSO Window

Hi,

Due to the integration of the contest area into the "New QSO" window, the dimensions of the window are now so large that the display of several windows on a standard laptop screen or a 4:3 monitor is very problematic.

New QSO Window

HI Wolfgang!

The contest part of NewQSO is meant only for editing already logged qsos if needed. (for some unknown reason !?)
So you can resize the NewQSO window horizontally so that "dxcc info" part overrides the "contest part" of NewQSO. Then the size is just the same as before.

When you use "contest window" you should not need NewQSO window at all. But as said if you need to edit a contest qso already logged in you can then make NeWQSO horizontally wider during the edit.

I repeat:
The contest part of NewQSO is meant only for editing already logged qsos

Do not try to use it for logging contest qsos. It works, but is not user friendly in any way.

Workflow typing in contest QSOs offline

Hi Saku,

I find this confusing. I do not understand the concept behind these different windows.

What is the proposed flow how to type in contest QSOs offline?

I took part in the HOT contest and used paper to log those 11 QSOs I did. Now I want to enter them into CQRLog. For each QSO, I have QRG, time on, call, and also rst, serial, and exchange - these last three fields both sent + received.

What is the recommended way to type this stuff into cqrlog?

Workflow typing in contest QSOs offline

HI Andreas!

OK, you are not online contest.
But how ever type in qsos from past contest is sill easiest to do with contest-window.

Just set preset values: space is tab, inc (if you have growing number. That will start 001, but you can start with any other number. Just type it in then.) Then set your message and contest name to top of window.

Then see your paper log for first call, type it to call filed, press space cursor jumps to received serial: type it, press space cursor goes to received message: type it. Then press enter, or click button "save" (enter is faster you do not have to touch the mouse).
First qso is in log.
Then type next call, cursor is already at right filed and repeat same as in 1st qso. And so on.

The idea of contest window is just making qso information typing fast as possible without any touch of mouse. You can type in qsos from NewQSO window but then you have to place cursor to right fields, increase serial number manually, type in your own message for every qso.
There is just no time for that in contests where you have many stations to work.

In any case you have to do adif export from contest qsos and use program like adif2cabrillo (by ON4QZ) to create cabrillo log that is requested for nearly all contests. (of course it is not needed if you do not sen your log to contest keeper)

That would be fine if I had been running. But I have been searching and pouncing, I have taken note of the QRGs of each QSO, and I would like to enter that, as well.

Then see your paper log

Hi!

Nothing prevents you from using newqso window for entering paper logs.
Normally the band, or approx frequency is enough, but if you want to be exact you can do that with newqso
I will reply to the other msg when I'm at keyboard. Typing with smart phone is terrible with old, sick fat fingers.
