By way of setting the understanding bar very low, I am new to having any sort of computer in my shack and to computer logging, and have no skills or experience in any sort of programming. I am using a Raspberry Pi4 (2 Gb) running CQRLog 2.4.0 (001) and WSJT-X with an IC7300 satisfactorily, in that the remote facility logs FT8 QSOs for me, and I type in other QSOs manually. That's pretty much all I use it for at the moment, though I may look into QSLing electronically in future.
'Show QSO list' shows that I have 1029 entries in log nr 1, of which around 540 are from this year and recorded directly; the remainder are from previous years of low activity (and pre-Pi) most of which were typed in manually. I have created a backup of the log file, just in case.
It appears that if I scroll through the 'Show QSO list' that I am limited to reviewing around 500 entries, whether I scroll back from today's date, or change the sort and scroll forward from 1 Jan 2021. But occasionally I seem suddenly to be able to scroll through the full list. I'm not aware that I'm doing anything different when it does allow me to go back further, but I can't seem to do it deliberately and on demand. I haven't found any setting which addresses the number of lines accessible in 'Show QSO list'.
So, three questions please:
- How do I scroll back through the 'Show QSO list' reliably to see the full list of QSOs?
- If 1000+ QSOs is too long and I split the list into chunks of less than 500 OSOs, how do I still maintain 'Previous QSO' records and DXCC statistics and the like on an 'all-time' basis?
- is it possible to set some sort of counter to show the number of QSOs from a set date, say to count the number of QSOs this year in addition to the total (assuming the log is for a longer period)? I guess I could set up a new log for each year, but would I then have the problem with previous QSO records and statistics outlined above?
I don't know anyone local to me who uses CQRLog to ask them. I read back through several pages of the forum to see if I could find enlightenment, but failed.
Most grateful for assistance. Thank you.
Chris
HI Chris!
- Have you tried keys PgUP and PgDN while looking qsos in "QSO list" view ? That should do it.
- Cqrlog can handle lot more qsos. There is no limit. I myself have 10 000+ qsos in one log and that is not much.
- You can use Filter/Create at top of QSO list menu. Set start and end dates and press OK. After that your QSO list view shows only filtered qsos and "QSOs in log" will show filtered amount. Return back to full log view with Shift+F12. See "New QSO" top menu "Help/Keys and shortcuts"
I am a bit worried about your cqrlog version. You should get 2.5.2 because it might be that 2.4.0 still had problems with QSO list scrolling.
Can you duplicate your SD card to have another as backup? Then you could try to update cqrlog without worrying about mistakes.

Thank you very much Saku, that is very helpful. Your suggestions work fine. I will also look for a version of 2.5.2 suitable for the Raspberry Pi and have a go at updating when time permits. Thanks again.

Hi Chris!
I recommend to make SD card duplication. Very secure way to backup whole system. Then test that second SD starts and works similar way.
After that read and try this. It is actually very easy when done step by step:

If anything goes wrong just switch another SD and and you can format the faulty one, duplicate again and do second try.

Thank you Saku. I did a full update of the Pi yesterday and updated my spare copy of the SD. I also found the forum topic you mention whilst having another look through the forum materials so I think I'm set to have a go at updating CQRLog shortly. Once again, many thanks for your assistance and patience.
Chris
Success! Now on 2.5.2. Thank you.
