I just cannot seem to get RIGCTL to talk to my TenTec Omni VI+.
I have a serial port (2) and a USB to serial device. I have set
everything in the "preferencies" to default using /dev/ttyS5 or
/dev/ttyS4 (as reported by using gmesg | grep tty). I put that
info into rc.local. I have also tried /dev/ttyUSB0 with the same
results. I have used this radio with the popular Windoz program
and it deos work. Just wonder what I have not done to let Linux
Mint talk to the serial port or the USB port?

Hello Petr. I'm using Linux Mint 15 Mate. I am a member of the dialout group, or at least
one time I was. HI. I'll recheck that tho.

This is ambarrassing, I cannot remember where that file resides. Getting old is not for sissies!
Clayton K4QM
Found it and is OK. Still trying to make it go.

Never had any luck with Mint Mate, I also did not try very hard, as I like Cinn, but does not seem to work the same as Cinn, dont know why. kinda strange, there must be something different between the two. same settings, just different distro, no luck with mate, cinn no problem??? Tom

I just loaded the latest version of Debian and then dowloaded the dep package. Did all the
file editing to show me as a member of the dialout group and others. Still no luck with the
rig control. Ran the debug=1 and same results as with mint.
Clayton K4QM
Finally made the rig control work. I'm now using Debian and everything now seems to work as advertized.
Thanks Petr and Tom for your help.
