I've just installed cqrlog 1.4.1 on Linux Mint 13 "Maya", based on Ubuntu 12.04, but I can't connect any dx cluster service.
Any clue?

are you sure you entered right connection data into dx cluster? Please try HamQTH.com dxcluster, I know, it works.

If you try to connect from console like this:

No, it doesn't.
I had tried with success several telnet cluster from console before having written on the forum. Then, I added also yours on the list, but nothing changed in the window: it still blank.
Here what happens by lounching cqrlog from console:

Did you try HamQTH.com DX cluster? Does it work from command line? Could you please post here what you see when open DX cluster list?

Terminal telnet connection is OK.
Regular updates of DX databases also don't work.

Hello,
today I've installed CQRLOG on my notebook and got the very same problem there. Propagation windows and cluster don't show any output. Cluster is db0sue.de on port 8000 and it works with telnet in the terminal. Distribution is Ubuntu Gnome Shell Remix 12.04 from WEB UPD8. Maybe some Ubuntu Unity related package is missing?!
This is the output in the terminal, when I start cqrlog from there and click on 'Connect' in the DXCluster Windows:

That's all. Anything else I can try to help debugging this?
On my Shack PC with Ubuntu 12.04 everything works fine.

Hi Petr,
I've just checked what's going on at the network interface with wireshark, after I hit the Connect button at the telnet windows. On my shack PC with official Ubuntu 12.04 a DNS query is started (db0sue.de), which is answered with the correct IP address (212.51.10.184) and then the normal login procedure via TCP follows.
On my laptop with Ubuntu 12.04 Gnome Remix (which seems to be nearly the same as Linux Mint) there is no communication at all. No DNS request, no TCP communication.
Can you or someone else give me a hint where to look deeper into the system to find out what prevents CQRLOG to communicate via the network interface?

Maybe I've found the problem under Linux Mint 13.
The cluster window don't resolve DNS names. If you try with node IP address it works!
Example: If I try to connect node ik3edj.dxgang.net on port 9000 -> None
If I try with IP address 79.14.111.60 on port 9000 -> Works!

Hi all,
that reminds me of some linux specific problems with local DNS in DSL routers and Ubuntu internal cache nameserver. There have been a lot problems in the past. Perhaps Ubuntu has a unityspecific solution for that, which is missing in the latest Linux Mint and other Ubuntu distributions. There's an easy solution which I'll check later today when I'm at home.

Hi all,
with the IP address instead of the domain the DXCluster works. Propagation window has no content, so I think this is related to the very same problem.
In Ubuntu 12.04 the general behaviour of the DNS stuff has changed. For example, there's no /etc/resolv.conf anymore. I wonder why it works on a pure Ubuntu 12.04, but not a derived distribution. Any idea?
I thought I have a solution for that CQRLOG-DNS problem, but unfortunately it doesn't work...

Hello boys,
sure, the all problem is that Mint 13 does not use resolv.conf but dnsmasq. It is described on http://lincgeek.org/blog/?p=1529 and there is a solution - the simple script for patching. Do not forgot name this script as fixmint13.sh and make it executable. Call ./fixmint13.sh in terminal as sudo, restart - and voila - all is OK! Enjoy!

In Linux Mint 13 there is pluma as default file editor, not gedit.
These nameservers are google - no problem at all, it is OK, but better is if the resolv.conf is generated automatically. There should be nameservers from home network (if any) and/or local provider network (if any). Here is an example:

I have tried the above suggestions but still it is not working. I am a linux newbie greenhorn and still do not understand all the fine line points. For instance in the above post what nameserver where and if changes are overwritten what will you need to do? Step by step instructions are needed for us who aren't linux experts. Most instructions on these pages are written with folks knowing what is happening more often than not. I would really appreciate if someone could answer with step by step easy to follow information. Thanks for any help here, really don't want to use Windows anymore.

What is problem you are having? This is an old post and has been resolved woth the last few OS' s. Which are you using? Mint or Ubuntu? Also are you using Hamqth for lookups? And are you registered with Hamqth. Next thing that comes to mind is you have to twll CQRlog in preferences to use this info. I cant remember exactly where I am typing this on my phone. But somewhere in preferences you check a box that says use hamqth and qrz for lookups. HTH .
