Prop Mode

I'd like to see a way to enter the propagation mode for each QSO and include this in any ADIF export. Setting a default PROP Mode may be useful also for Six Metre operators during the Es season ;-)

Prop Mode

Any chance this might get looked at? Would be useful if the prop mode was also included in cluster spots comment field e.g. <MS>, <EME>, <TEP> etc.

Re: Prop Mode

Hi Dave,
yes, I can add this feature, it souldn't be difficult but new qso window is alredy full of controls, there is no room for other. Maybe make some fields shorter but I'm not sure how many users will use propagation mode function ... .

I suspect most VHF operators

I suspect most VHF operators will, particularly 6M operators.

Re: I suspect most VHF operators

Dave,

as I wrote before. There is no problem to add modes of propagation. There is a problem where it should be located. New QSO window is already full and there is no space. I can add it QSO list window -> File -> Edit details but I'm not sure if it will be useful. Do you have any idea where to put this new funtion? Thank you!

putting in an edit option in a menu would be a good work around I think.
Another reason to have the Prop mode editable is for satellite contacts. LOTW uses this ADIF field to match satellite contacts. It is required to be set to 'SAT' for a LOTW credit.

OK, I'll add it to Edit details menu.

If I may make a suggestion

If I may make a suggestion (specific to satellites), if you create a new New QSO window specific to satellite operation you can remove several of the fields that don't apply to satellite operation.

I also realized LOTW wants another field for Satellite contacts, SAT_NAME
Example for a valid satellite contact:
Propagation Mode: <PROP_MODE:>SAT
Satellite Name: <SAT_NAME:>SO-50
Both of these on the edit details menu would allow a user to enter a contact into the New QSO box then update it later with the proper data.

Thanks and 73,

James

Agree

Hi Petr
I just wanted to add my support for a satellite prop mode and satellite name fields.  Thanks for your support and understanding.  This feature will be muchly apprecfiated by all of you users who work the birds.

Did te PROP feature ever make

Did te PROP feature ever make production, I dont see it anywhere yet? There could be room for this dropdown under the "Comment to QSO" field in the QSO window. If this field ever makes it I'd like to propose another follow on feature. VHF operators when spotting on the DXClusters add QRA and PROP data tot eh comments field using this convention:
DX QRA<PROP MODE>Spotters QRA
e.g.
IO91WT<MS>DM91SK
This enables cluster map websites to pot the path as the start and end qra locatgors are given and colour coe the path according tot he propagation mode reported in teh example above teh conventioon for <MS> is red.
Currently operators are having to manually add this data whenever they report a spot to the cluster. VHF savvy loggers like VQLog do this (I think). I thibk if would ba great fo CQRLog could do this also.

The following drop down

The following drop down options are used by a leading DXCluster Map website andappear to have been univerally adopted:

<option value="ACS">Aircraft scatter</option>

<option value="AUR">Aurora</option>

<option value="AUE">Aurora-E</option>

<option value="BS">Back scatter</option>

<option value="FAI">FAI</option>

<option value="F2">F2</option>

<option value="ION">Iono scatter</option>

<option value="MS">Meteor scatter</option>

<option value="EME">Moon Bounce</option>

<option value="RS">Rain scatter</option>

<option value="SAT">Satellite</option>

<option value="ES">Sporadic-E</option>

<option value="TEP">Transequatorial</option>

I've been looking at OZ2M's

I've been looking at OZ2M's kst2me app (which works well under Wine). And he has a good way to report prop modes when sending DXCluster spots by adding mode buttons on his send spot window (see attached file).
Could CQRLog do something similar? would be really useful to VHF operators?

Great for sat work

Hi. I support this idea. LOTW supports sat logs, and it uses propagation mode enumeration.

Also info here:

I think you would find a way to add this to the window.
