Hi all,
I can't set my TRX...
Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
CQRLOG 2.0.5(001)
I use an USB converter which works perfectly with W7 and OmniRig.
I'm a member of dialout group.
I've tried to use a lot of speed combinations etc. including default settings but it still has not worked.
Simbols "PC" appiar on the TRX screan. That's all.
Help me, please.

Sorry for my English language. Thanks.
It seems rigctlg didn't get response from the rig.
Close the CQRLOG, open a console and enter this:
/usr/bin/rigctl -m 228 -r /dev/ttyUSB0 -s 9600 -vvvv
Rigctl should start, now enter
f
and you should get the frequency? Did it work?
Could you copy and paste what did you have in terminal, please?

You should first change hamlib. I think you using old one.
rigctl -V
rigctl, Hamlib 3.1

Jarmo

Thank you Jarmo!
You are absolutely right!
rigctl -V
rigctl, Hamlib 1.2.15.3
How can I change It?
Thanks!
Mike R4CD
Latest source is https://sourceforge.net/projects/hamlib/ Ubuntu packages I don't know.
I'm using Fedora. In Fedora packages are 3.0.1, but I compiled latest source and installed it.
You might need some other packages also installed, before you can compile source.
Ubuntu users might tell how...

Jarmo

Thank you!
I'm trying but it's too complicated for me...
Mike R4CD
Have you tried commandline apt-get update hamlib ?
There's https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hamlib some hint,
that Ubuntu should have a bit newer version of Hamlib..

Jarmo

Yes, I've tried.
I downloaded tar file with hamlib from officials but the problem is with an installig the file.
Mike R4CD
Hi Mike,
please download these files:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/290629681/libhamlib2_3.0.1-1build1_amd64.deb
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/290629671/libhamlib-doc_3.0.1-1build1_all.deb
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/290629678/libhamlib-utils_3.0.1-1build1_am...
open a console and move to the directory where are the files stored. Enter this command:
sudo dpkg -i libhamlib*
it should install all packages without any problem.
Now run rigctl -V and you should get something like this:
rigctl, Hamlib 3.0.1

Hi Mike,
please try another Kenwood rig number. It seems hamlib has some issues with this rig. Kenwood has the basic commands common to all hist rigs.

Are you sure your ts-480 runs at 9600bps as com speed ? I always used the highest bps rate without any problems on my ts-480
You can check this in the menu of the ts-480. remember to power cycle when you change speed.

Thank you! I'm absolutely sure and do as you said every time.
Mike R4CD
Hi
The problem was solved by connecting another adapter which did not work with ts480 under Windows. I found information that the CH340 chip does not work with Ubuntu and I picked an old connector pl2303 up from rubbish :)
Also it was connected to Android.
Thank you!
