[Solved] DXCluster Country Filter

Hello everyone,

I am trying to configure the filter for the DXCluster in CQRLog : "Do not show spots for following countries"
Let's take an example. I don't want to see the spotted stations from Russia that appear on the Web/Telnet DXCluster window.
According to the help, I have to enter the country prefix that I don't want to see.

Here is what I've tried but unfortunately, with no result:
ua;
ua
UA;
UA
ua1;ua2;ua3;ua4;ua5;ua6;ua7;ua8;ua9;ua0
ua1;ua2;ua3;ua4;ua5;ua6;ua7;ua8;ua9;ua0;

I also tried the two lines above in capital letters.
I tried a lot of other combinations with...no result. All Russian stations are still displayed like if there was no filter set.
Thank you very much beforehand for your help.

DXCluster Country Filter

Hi!

Perhaps it easier to do filtering at DXCluster.

See the filter commands: http://www.dxcluster.org/main/usermanual_en-10.html
Of course this may not work with all web clusters. They often do not offer filtering.

With quick peek to source code it looks like setting prefixes at preferences works only with cqrlog telnet dxcluster, and may also need prefixes typed in upper case.
But that was very fast few minutes search and I may be wrong.

Re: DXCluster Country Filter

Guy,
use prefixes assigned to the "unwanted" country by CQRlog, ie. UA(EU), UA(AS) etc. The complete list is in Country.tab. Look onto my settings.

Other issue with dx cluster

<p>Hi,</p>
<p>It is much better to set filters on dx cluster server side.</p>
<p>I have other issue with HamQTH dx cluster: I am disconnected from cluster quite often. IMHO disconnectings happens if no traffic coming from dx cluster for some time, e.g. due to working filters. If I am right maybe you'll consider to use something like 'keepalive packets', i.e. by sending backspace every few minutes to dx cluster server?</p>

Re: DXCluster Country Filter

Hello Saku, hello Martin,

Many thanks for your answers.

Saku, it's been a so long time I haven't used Telnet commands that I've almost forgotten they exist... But you are right, they work and after entering few of them, I could easily achieve my filtering goal.

Martin, I don't know why, but it still doesn't work for me.
I attached a screenshot, I tried with and without the semicolon sign on both Web and Telnet Cluster. I also tried without and with restarting CQRLog.

I would like to thank both of you again for your help, with my best 73's,

Guy (on4klg)

Hi Guy,

Hi Guy,
This time you used EA(EU) for filtering. There is not this kind of prefix in country.tab file, just check it. Just leave EA and then you'll filtering EA stations.

Re: DXCluster Country Filter

Hello Slav,

Thank you for your post but if you look at my first post, you will notice that I started that way, just putting the prefix ie UA. With an example, I see on Martin's attached picture that he adds the continent in brackets, that's why I re-tested with EA(EU) unsuccessfully however. With the Telnet commands, I can setup some filters in a very efficient way (ie reject/spot 0 call_dxcc 34 (to exclude EA prefix from being spotted)).

However, I will continue and try to find out why I can not set filters from CQRLog. No doubt it comes from me. I am missing something.
I will continue testing based on the Country.tab file.

But for the time being, my main goal is achieved :-)

Hi Guy

Hi Guy
Lets start from beginig.
Russia is quite big country on two continents: EUrope and ASia and they are two different DXCC. So we need to use e.g. UA(EU) and UA(AS) to recognize which part of Russia (which DXCC) we need to filter, (EU)ropean or (AS)iatic.
Spain is beautiful, but not so big like Russia and lying on only one continent - EU (only one DXCC), so we don't need to filter in this way, in this case only EA should be use to filtering.

Hope is helpfull for you,

Re: DXCluster Country Filter

Hi Guy,
I assume that you made a nasty typo - EA instead UA. There is no EA(EU)...

[Solved] Re: DXCluster Country Filter

Slav and Martin,

Good news... DXCluster is now filtering "unwanted" countries ! Despite all the tests I have done today, the only thing that has changed is that I turned the computer off (off, not rebooted) to turn it on again to give it a last try for today.

I entered some countries that appear on the cluster and without the need to restart CQRLog, those countries are not spotted anymore. That's great !

I can compare the results with the one given on dxheat.com

Thanks to all for your help, best 73's.
