I did a new installation of cqrlog on a PC DELL, os Linux 20 Mint, I can not manage to start CQRLOG here is the message
Error during connection to database: TMySQL57Connection: Server connect failed.

Same here.
It looks like the upgrade included upgrading myslq to 8.0.
It appears that the authentication method changed??
Something about now using caching_sha2_password.
It's now over my bald head.

Same here after a fresh install of Mint 20.
Agreed that it's probably mysql 8.0 where the problem lies. This issue is also mentioned on the forum here: https://www.cqrlog.com/node/2505
