Install Cqrlog with MariaDB to Ubuntu 22.04

Made a script that installs official version 2.5.2 of Cqrlog to Ubuntu 22.04 without using installation packet that wrongly installs Mysql instead of needed MariaDB.

Script installs first needed dependencies (as packets) and then installs Cqrlog from cqrlog.com/Download /cqrlog_2.5.2_amd64.tar.gz
By installed this way system updates can not roll over this install as it does not show up in installed packets list.

Script can also update installed official version right away to latest CqrlogAlpha (unofficial version) if user wants so.

Changing my sign-in

I have just been signing in under my previous call sign. A couple of years ago, I finally decided to get a U.S. Vanity call sign before the FCC started leveeing the $35 fee. The call sign is my late father's call sign, W5OXL. It is much easier to use for CW than WD5HHH (which has 19 dits in a row). I so far have found there is no way to do this. I tried to create a new account but the email address would be the same and the website refused to let me do it. What can be done?

Installing CQRLOG with existing database in Ubuntu

I had to keep the subject short. My current version of Ubuntu 22.04 has "issues". I have upgraded from 18.04 to 20.04 and then to 22.04. I bought a new hard drive and loaded 24.04 on it. I have been using Mariadb for CQRLog as well as for my Wordpress blog which I host on the same computer. I moved my database files over and installed Mariadb. When I went to install CQRLog from the Ubuntu repository, the installation removed my Mariadb and installed Mysql. How can I install CQRLog without the installation doing this?

TMySQL57Connection

Hello,
The topic has been discussed. After a few QSOs added to CQRlog, I end up with this message:

TMySQL57Connection : Error executing query: Server has gone away.
Press OK to ignore and risk data corruption.
Press Abort to kill the program.

Linux Mint 2.13 up to date Cinnamon 6.0.4
CQRlog Alpha 132 GtK2
Server version: 10.6.18-MariaDB-0ubuntu0.22.04.1 Ubuntu 22.04
The problem is random. Am I the only one in this case? Do you have a solution. I did some research on the internet but the problem persists.

CQRLOG and CWDAEMON

Hello
I'm trying to make cqrlog (Ver. Alpha (131) Gtk2) cooperate with cwdaemon.

So far everything works fine in Ubuntu 22.04 but not in any other system).
Currently testing in Fedora 40. Zero keying.
The current settings in Ubuntu 22.04 are:
File /etc/default/cwdaemon

# /etc/default/cwdaemon
# OK1ZIA 17 Aug 2004

# /etc/default/cwdaemon
# OK1ZIA 17 Aug 2004

#
# Start cwdaemon at boot? yes or no
START_CWDAEMON=yes

QTH profiles

I understand that QTH Profiles are mainly used for filtering, but what's the reasoning behind requiring a valid locator for QTH profiles? As far as I can see, there is no way to export locator/qth/rig to files like ADI. It also does not seem to set "my_loc" (not sure what even sets that particular field)

Just a hint for using alternative HamLib (FAQ)

Hi, All
Rencently, I made a new HamLib - ver4.6 - taken from github onto my Raspberry pi 4B.
Unfortunately it didn't run w/ CQRLOG smoothly but fix to run w/ the procedure below:

1. Close current running CQRLOG

2. Edit CQLOG desktop icon property file (put "env LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/path/to/install-your-hamlib-libs" into "Exec" line)
# vi /usr/share/applications/cqrlog.desktop
...
Exec=env LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib cqrlog
....

3.Re-Run CQRLOG (ie. run CQRLOG via icon)

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS demands mysql instead of mariadb

Hi folks,
... being not so deep into the system mechanics, I am facing the following problem with my upgrade from Ubuntu 22.04 LTS to 24.04 LTS:

When installing cqrlog, mariadb gets removed and mysql installed instead. - However, for some reason the mysql installation failed. So it took me quite some time to remove & cleanup mysql again afterwards.

How can I install cqrlog using mariadb as before? Having mariadb installed beforehand did obviously not work, as the (ubuntu-stock) package apparently did require mysql-server explicitly.
